It's nothing special, there are like thousands or millions others like me-" What do you think, Frank?"įrank grabs the tablet: "Too many colours." burps Officer #1: "A couple of minutes, eh? I guess that's all you need.and that's looks pretty colourful to me. It's just a online card game, and it's a special event to get a new character, and it's just going to take a couple of minutes." waving around my tablet and showing off HS Me: "Please listen to me, you got it all wrong okay!? I'm NOT on of 'them'. Officer #1: "Oh so that's what you call it these days, huh? How about you accompany us to the station and have a chat with us about this gathering of yours." I have been in similar situations where I couldn't find an event because an event organizer wrote something fishy in the details, and when the other person gains an understanding of what happened they don't harbor any negative feelings towards the attendee. He can just laugh it off with the security guard, like wtf were they thinking organizing a public event in a private space. So the attendee doesn't need to feel awkward. In the case that OP mentioned the event organizers are doing something fishy, not the attendee. But that doesn't mean that you have to be awkward. So sometimes other people can be awkward about these types of things. So why did everyone look at me like wtf? Isn't "is this the Moon Party?" a totally normal question at a Moon Party? It turns out that it was the Moon Party all along. Then like 20 minutes later, I get a call from my friend in the party who saw me ask everyone that question. The entire group immediately stopped partying and laughing and all stared at me like wtf? So I thought for sure I was in the wrong place, since I interrupted their celebration. I went up to a jovial group of people and asked "is this the Moon Party?". The one time it did get awkward is when I was looking for a Moon Party in Japan that I was invited to. In fact, I have done this things like this so many times it is completely unremarkable for me. They said they don't sell that here, so I asked where a good place nearby would be that might have it. One time I walked into a store and asked for WD-40. I would have no problem telling someone I was there for a Hearthstone Fireside Gathering. If they don't understand your reply, you might be in the wrong place. People will ask you what you are there for, and you will reply. To be honest, I think this just counts as a normal everyday social situation.
