I was recruiting every single one available with putting prio to CIC and Engineering skill. I enyoyed that game very much.Īs for officer's specialization I did nothing in particular. I have Battlefleet Gothic: Armada in my library. This is not what a strategy game is supposed to be. I feel like I'm playing a game designed back in 1989. Once I finish the camapaign I'll remove this game from my HD and never look back again yet I still play Homeworld 2 and World at War russian assault. It is a slow and boring thing to do and I don't like this kind of game but I'm forced into it because of poor game design.

Then I will unlock other designs and produced them before starting to upgrade my fleets. Once all is good I will call back my officers with their fleets promote them and fill the fleet with anchored vessels. What I will do once I have enough ressources to promote every officer above 3500 fleet points ?ĪTM I'm producing corvetts and frigates and keeping them anchored at the white giant star near Helios Gamma system where my shipyard is. Then I switched to Navigation and Hangar. I went for CIC and Engineering skill before geting out of it. I have no more officer available at my pool. I'm at 9 officers count and only 5 primary missions completed. Perhaps you only need four or five officers to build-up in this fashion? Of course, this whole promote-all-officers at once strategy is not efficient. Then if any increased Cylon fleets invade you can choose the 3500-size fleet to defend and keep the remaining 2000-size Officers safe, until you can use enough RP to promote them.Īlso once I get my officers to fleet-skill 5 (for their specialization) I'm going to let them build up experience for a few levels, then try to promote as many as I can at one time to 3500 size. I guess one way would be to consolidate all your 2000-Officer fleets into a few systems, perhaps two or three officers per planet, then promote one of the officers to 3500 size around each planet. What do you intend to do when you are ready to promote one officer to 3500 points? How will you promote the other officers to face the immediate threat of increased Cylon fleet size from the single promotion?

Engineer is also very good since you can go full attack posture and absorb more damage with Engineer compared to a non-Engineer commander. I recall from other posts the CIC bonus is one of the best due to the fleet-wide posture. What officer classes are you recruiting? I have mostly CIC officers and few Engineers. If there is a maximum, what is that limit? So far I have around 9 officers. You mention "maximum number of officers". I was aware of the problem with not being able to develop new officers later in the game, so I was already following your strategy. I don't really care about the achievements, just the optimal officer count to manage so I have reserves in case any of them perish. So far I have 10 officers at 2,000 fleet size, so perhaps that's too many officers to try to manage. I recall one poster writing that you only need four to five officers to make it through the whole compaign. What's the optimal way to handle your first officer fleet-size increase to 3500? Do you have to promote all your officers at the same time to the 3500 fleet size, via a combination of stored-up experience and Resource Points?Īlso, what is the optimal number of officers to have to promote at the same time and deal with the increased Cylon fleet sizes, and yet complete the campaign in a reasonable time frame? I'm already 30 hours into the game and about 31 turns, with about 10 officers that vary from Rank 2 to Rank 5, none with a Fleet size over 2,000 just yet. I stopped doing story missions after about 3 and went a really long time with just Manticores and Adamants with Viper Mk II to try and build up my fleets, facing very manageable 2,000 sized Cylon fleets (for about 40 turns), and they only started jumping to 3,900 once I unlocked the Artemis blueprint, then jumped again once I unlocked the Ranger blueprint.Īs you can imagine this strategy will make the game take a long time to complete. I've been basically following this strategy so far:įrom what I can tell so far, the Cylon fleets scale as you unlock blueprints. I've studied a lot of the message topics on here regarding the severely ramped up difficully as you unlock blueprints in the campaign, and also how Cylon fleet sizes go up right after you increase the fleet-size your officers can command. So for those of you who have finished the game, what do you think the optimal strategy phases are to complete the game in the shortest time period on the Commander difficulty, and the optimal number of officers to manage?
